Fort Drum is home to the Army's prestigious 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), and has been used as a military training site since 1908. The Army's presence in the North Country can be traced all the way back to the early 1800's. The mission at Drum includes command of active component units there, and support to tenant units and active and reserve units from all services in training at Fort Drum.
