Welcome to Fort Walker

Fort Walker (formerly Fort A.P. Hill)  in Virginia provides an all-purpose year-round training area for everything from small operations to intensive missions. It’s no wonder that this Army post is known as the place “Where America’s Military Sharpens its Combat Edge."

Fort Walker was established in 1941 after the War Plans Division of Army General Staff decided that the military needed a space large enough to train millions of men to simultaneously fight in the European and Pacific theaters.

With 76,000 acres of land, including a modern 28,000-acre live-fire range, Fort Walker serves as a training ground for the armed forces. The state-of-the-art facilities serve as the background for joint training, as every U.S. military branch uses the space in preparation for deployments and more.

Here you’ll find:

  • 310th Engineer Company (US Army Reserves)
  • Fort A.P. Hill Logistics Readiness Center
  • Network Enterprise Center 21st Signal Brigade
  • McMahon Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training Center
  • Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate
  • Mission and Installation Contracting Command

The combined effort of these units earns Fort A.P. Hill the motto “Best Training and Support — Anywhere!”
