The Marine Corps Air Station at New River (MCAS New River) is located south of Richlands, NC and is only 4 miles south of downtown Jacksonville, NC on Hwy 17. Eastward and across the New River, lying adjacent to MCAS New River is the Marine Corps base at Camp Lejeune.  Just south of the MCAS New River is the town of Sneads Ferry, NC.
