Base Location and Information
Though the Newport area is bustling with locals and tourists, it isn’t dense with military installations. Aside from Naval Station Newport, the Coast Guard is the only other military branch with a presence here, about an hour away in Providence, Rhode Island.
Depending on where you’re driving from, whether it’s within Newport, heading south from Middleton or Portsmouth, or across the bridge from Jamestown, you’ll run into some commuter traffic during the week and potentially tourists during non-working hours.
