Base Location and Information
MacDill AFB is located within the city limits of Tampa, Florida. It's eight miles south of the central business district at the tip of the Interbay Peninsula. The base has city district status because it is within the city limits of Tampa. Cities within driving distance of the base are Brandon, Valrico, Riverview, and Lithia.

At MacDill, the term “joint" is often used, with two military combatant commands located here: CENTCOM and SOCOM.
