Base Location:

The New London Naval Submarine Base is located on the east side of Thames River in Groton, CT. Located approximately 2 miles away, across the river, connected by the Gold Star Memorial Bridge, is the US Coast Guard Academy.  A little further east and south of the New London Naval Submarine Base is Waterford, CT, at about 8 miles from the Submarine base and only about 4 miles south of the Coast Guard Academy.  The city of Mystic, on the Mystic River, lies around 9 miles east of the Submarine Base at New London, and Gales Ferry, CT is just north of the sub base by around 3 miles or so.  If you continue straight north from Gales Ferry, you will reach Norwich, CT, located about 10 miles from the base.
